Why this
theme? “PROTECT-PRACTICE & PROFESSION”
I
believe IDA Stands for Dentists, for their rights
and welfare, Creating freedom and ambiance for good
practice should be the first and for most priority
of IDA.
Dental
practice (DP) reached here without much challenges
but now it stands at cross road and passing through
a transition stage with the emergence of gradates
from 23 dental colleges in our vicinity and advent
of corporate in dental health care field. Adding
salts to the wound is the “not sure” attitude of
Govt. and DCI in preventing coming up of new Dental
colleges. The neo liberal economic policies of govt.
put tremendous pressures on our establishments and
day to day life.
Now a
chaos and apprehension prevail in Dental Practice
scenario and insecurity haunts the practitioners.
Devaluation of Dentists, Dental Practice and Dental
Profession in the near future is the threat we are
facing now a days.
A
transition stage is usually tough and many times
painful and it is a general and universal truth. At
this stage any individual or organization may be
trapped by a wrong decision which may take us too
backward to recover. So I appeal members to promote
good ideas and be vigilant against regressive ideas.
We have
to think, plan and act with this at the back drop. A
scientific and ethical planning of programmes are
the need of the hour and there by 15% of more people
should visit Dentists regularly.
Discussions, deliberations, seminars and symposiums
should be made as a regular events at state level,
branch level and college level to boost the
confidence of the practitioners.
Workshops should be conducted on practice management
at various level with experts in the management
profession to explore the possibilities of practice
and innovation in practice.
IDA
resources and strength should be used better to make
people more and more aware of Dentistry and its
importance in general health and in public life
where good facial appearance and individual
presentation are much concerned. Govt. support
should be sought for a far reach in public.
Kerala
is known as “God’s own Country” and this is
recognized globally. So every dentists in Kerala
should be equipped to the status of a global
Dentists, and their clinic should be Dental
excellence centre. We all together should make
Kerala- A Dental Destination” by time bound
programmes and updating. I feel this is the one and
only answer to the woes we are facing now and
thereby help ourselves to adhere Hippocratic oath we
have taken.
Thanking You,
Dr.M.Raveendranath,
President- IDA Kerala State. |
